I really like wine. When I’m with my friends or in the weekends I really enjoy a couple of glasses. I think I like with dry wine the most but recently I saw a blue wine and was really curious about it.
What is it?
Six young Spanish businessman who created Gïk. Gïk is the first blue wine in the world. They created the wine in 2015 at the university of Basque. They created it with Azti Tecnalia, the food research centre from the local government. It almost takes 2 years to make the wine but it is now selling in Europe and is becoming more famous. Everyone can order a bottle. One bottle costs € 12,95 and is shipped for free.
Meanwhile other wine farmers in Spain noticed the blue wine and start making it too. In Valencia they make a blue Chardonnay, this one is sold in Belgium at a few places. This one is harder to get than Gïk and less famous. Gïk is trying to make younger people appreciate wine more. The blue wine is also perfect to make mixed drinks.
Why is it cool?
Gïk is the first blue wine in the world. They are very new and because they added a different colour than normal, they are also innovative. The wine doesn’t have any add chemicals. The blue wine is made from white and blue grapes. The antocyaan and indigo pigment from the peel of the grapes are add to the wine and creates the colour blue. Like you see, it is a natural dye.
Gïk tries to make wine interesting for younger people. The owners say that blue wine stands for innovation, change and a piece of individuality. ‘Blue wine is for people who are looking for new things with individual character’ according to the people from Gïk.
Wine is hot. In Paris opened a wine theme park with wine. I really want to go there sometime. There were also rumours to open one in Amsterdam. I also heard something about an orange wine. This orange wine is also made from blue and white grapes and looks like it is very delicious.
The Open World
Wine is made by grapes. To make something colourful, there are usually add dyes. But with this wine it is really natural. The fact that the makers are so open about it, shows that it is transparent. The technique and ingredients are known, so there are no weird things that are add to this wine. Quality checks are thoroughly and all elements are used according to the rules of food production in the EU and China. A lot of people have worked together to make this wine. That’s why it fits with collaboration. They did their best to make a new and innovative product that fits the needs from the clients.
Food
Drinks are also a part of food and nutrition. This is a really pleasant one. The wine is made from grapes. Most wines are made from white or blue grapes, but this one is a combination of it. According to experts the wine goes good with sushi, nachos with guacamole, tzatziki sauce, pasta carbonara and smoked salmon.
In conclusion, I think it is really cool that this wine exits and it’s not so hard to get it. A lot of my coolhunts are expensive, far away and hard to get. But this is really easy. I was so curious about this wine so I ordered a bottle! When I drank it, I will tell you guys about it!
